In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall rebellion, in 2019 HistoryMiami Museum unveiled Queer Miami: A History of LGBTQ Communities, an exhibition chronicling the struggles and triumphs of LGBTQ people, from the city’s founding in 1896 through the present. For the exhibition, Hammer and Nail produced a series of 11 videos featuring interviews with many who figured prominently in this history. In this video, activist Jorge Mursuli recalls the campaign that led to the 1998 passage of Miami-Dade County’s landmark human rights ordinance.
Another video for the exhibition inspired this feature in The New York Times.
